Tabata Timer
What is Tabata?
Tabata is a form of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) developed by Japanese scientist Izumi Tabata in 1996. The method is based on alternating short periods of maximum effort and rest. A classic Tabata protocol includes 20 seconds of intense exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated 8 times.
These workouts provide an excellent cardio load and help improve endurance in a short amount of time.
Why use a Tabata Timer?
A timer is essential for precisely following intervals. It's difficult to track seconds manually, especially during high-intensity exercise. An online Tabata timer automatically counts down the time, plays sound cues, and provides visual signals — helping you focus on your workout instead of the clock.
How to Use the Timer
Using our online Tabata timer is simple:
- Set the number of rounds, cycles, work and rest duration.
- Enable or disable sound and visual highlight as needed.
- Click the "Start" button to begin your workout.
A sound alert will play during the last 3 seconds of each interval to help you prepare. The timer runs directly in your browser, requires no registration, and is completely free.
